The Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences is the national centre for research into the geosphere. With around 1,650 employees, we develop a sound understanding of systems and processes of the solid Earth as well as strategies and options for action to counter global change, understand natural hazards and sustainably secure energy and raw material requirements.
This position is to support the Volcano-Tectonics and Hazards working group. Candidates with strong interest in drone and experimental technologies and with expertise in volcano-tectonics and volcano hazards are encouraged to apply. The position is funded 50% for 2 years with a planned extension for another 2 years, and also covers funds for computer power, field works, visiting conferences and workshops, and publication charges. We provide support for additional third-party funding applications in case own research shall be further developed.
The research aims to better understand the role of volcano-tectonic interactions, ground displacements, and hydrothermal alteration during the evolution and dynamics of volcanoes. Your own research will be related either to the technical development of tools, or related to mapping the changes in topography, geomorphology and structures.
