to begin as soon as possible.

The Professorship is assigned to the Department of Architecture and will be interacting closely with the Professorships of “Design and Building Construction“ and „Construction and Experimental Design“

We are looking for an internationally recognized personality who, as a designing architect, can demonstrate an excellent, acknowledged work that addresses contemporary questions of the profession and is linked to current discourses in society, politics, industry and research. In addition, it is expected that the topic of building with mineral materials has been dealt with experimentally and strategically in the context of built projects.

The research field of mineral materials and their role in building construction are more relevant than ever in face of general resource efficiency and the need to transform the existing building stock. The chair is responsible to research and teach the fundamentals and resulting design methodology associated with the subject in its entire breadth.

The position holder will be expected to conduct research activities, for example in the transfer of traditional materials and techniques, material innovations, circular economy and the field of transformation. Particular attention should be paid to the interdisciplinary linkage as well as the ever-increasing urgency of these topics in the overall social debate. Further, experience with or a strong willingness to engage in national and international cooperation and interdisciplinary work both within the Department of Architecture and with other departments and research institutions is expected.

A degree in architecture followed by a doctorate or achievements equivalent to a doctorate is required. Furthermore, excellent practical work as an architect is expected. In work and publications, innovative approaches in the fields described above should be demonstrated in

harmony with design and drafting skills. The didactic-pedagogical aptitude as well as the willingness to participate in the academic self- administration are required.

The position is tenured with a remuneration package commensurate with experience and qualifications, following the German "W-Besoldung" and subject to negotiations between the applicant and the university directorate. The regulations for employment are specified under §§ 67 and 68 HessHG (Hessisches Hochschulgesetz).

As part of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main metropolitan region, Technical University of Darmstadt and its surroundings are characterized by living internationality. The core element of this is a cosmopolitan climate with functional multilingualism at our university. Therefore, very good English and, at the latest after three years, good German language skills are expected.
