Columbia School of Nursing invites applications for the position of Executive Director of Simulation. The successful candidate will lead our state-of-the-art simulation center, guiding the integration of simulation-based education with clinical nursing education. The Executive Director will oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of simulation scenarios, ensuring they meet educational objectives and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities: 

- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for the simulation program.

- Ensure the simulation curriculum is integrated with clinical experiences and aligns with current best practices in simulation pedagogy.

- Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure efficient operation of the simulation center.

- Manage the simulation center budget, including equipment procurement and maintenance.

- Lead a team of simulation professionals, including hiring, training, and professional development.

- Collaborate with faculty to design, implement, and evaluate simulation scenarios and debriefing sessions.

- Collaborate with the simulation technology manager to ensure the simulation center has the most up-to-date and state-of-the-art simulation equipment, including mannequins, AV systems, and computer software.

- Foster interprofessional simulation initiatives across the health sciences disciplines.

- Represent the simulation program within the university and at national and international forums.

- Pursue research opportunities in simulation-based education and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.

- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and contribute to accreditation review processes.

- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to develop collaborative partnerships and implement effective programming and seek opportunities for external funding and partnerships.

Required

- Doctorate in Nursing or related field

- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner in the state of New York.

- A minimum of 3 years of leadership in a clinical simulation environment working within an academic institution or healthcare institution working with clinical disciplines (nursing, medicine, pharmacy, and/or other health-related fields, etc.).

- Minimum of 5 years of experience in clinical nursing practice.

- Leadership experience including staff management, budgeting, and operations.

- Evidence of scholarship in simulation-based education, including publications and presentations.

- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

- Knowledge of simulation accreditation standards.

Preferred

- Certification from the Society of Simulation for Healthcare as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE); CHSE-A preferred.

- Knowledge of SSH Accreditation criteria and demonstrated history of successful SSH Accreditation.

Application Instructions

Assistant Professor- $105,000 - $135,000 

Associate Professor- $136,000 - $160,000
