Position Description 


Harvard School of Dental Medicine is seeking a biostatistician to join our team and provide quantitative and analytical support for clinical research projects. In this role, the individual will work with a multi-disciplinary team, including clinicians, epidemiologists, bioinformaticians, and data scientists. The selected candidate will be expected to provide scientific expertise and engage directly in research and methods development.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


Under the supervision of principal investigators and co-investigators the Biostatistician will:


  • Work as part of a research team on scope and design of the studies, statistical analysis and interpretation, and writing of scientific reports
  • Manage, preprocess, and analyze clinical data collected from multiple research sites
  • Perform data cleaning and transformation to ensure data accuracy and reliability
  • Perform statistical analyses and document model assumptions, development, structure, coding, and testing
  • Implement machine learning algorithms for large-scale datasets
  • Summarize and present study findings as reports, tables, and figures, and collaborate with the team on manuscript, abstract, and other publication writing
  • Responsible for completion of these tasks within project timelines and must ensure the integrity of data collection, review, compilation, and analysis techniques. The person must follow proper procedures for working with confidential data in compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines, including staying current with training requirements related to human subject research and data security.
  • Be responsible for other duties as assigned


This position has a term appointment of one year from the date of hire with the possibility for extension.



Basic Qualifications


Master’s degree in statistics (biostatistics), computer science, data science, bioinformatics, or closely related field. Proficiency in statistical programming languages (R, SQL, or Python) is required. Strong knowledge of machine learning frameworks and libraries.


Additional Qualifications


2+ years of research/working experience in public health and medicine preferred.
