The National Center of Excellence PREDICT based at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Aalborg University in Copenhagen is looking to recruit a highly skilled tenure-track assistant professor to join our international and interdisciplinary group of dedicated researchers. The position is available at Aalborg University in Copenhagen, South Harbor, where the core facilities of PREDICT are located. Expected start of employment is December 1, 2024. About the Center for Molecular Prediction of Inflammatory Bowel Disease(PREDICT)
The purpose of PREDICT is to study and unravel the cause, prognosis, and co-morbidities of inflammatory bowel diseases(IBD), which are chronic and disabling diseases affecting millions of people worldwide. PREDICT is organized as a broad, national interdisciplinary endeavor with partners and collaborators located at Aalborg University Copenhagen, Aalborg University Aalborg, Aalborg University Hospital, and University of Copenhagen, involving both clinicians and basic scientists. PREDICT also has strong collaborations with leading international institutions, including Mount Sinai New York, Harvard Medical School, Imperial College London, University of North Carolina, the Francis Crick Institute, and Sorbonne University.
Tenure track assistant professorship
A position as tenure track assistant professor is a fixed-term training position which includes an obligation to carry out research and teaching activities. To a limited extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University. The appointment includes a requirement to attend a course in university pedagogy for assistant professors organized by the University.
After at maximum of up to six years the candidate can be appointed as associate professor. Prior to the appointment as associate professor the candidate must undergo an assessment by an assessment committee. If the assessment is positive, the candidate will be offered a permanent position as associate professor.
The Tenure track Assistant Professor Position
The tenure track assistant professor will be responsible for building up her or his own research group within the National Center of Excellence to perform forefront, international research within the area of metabolomics and inflammatory bowel disease. The tenure track assistant professor will have direct reference to Center Director, Tine Jess. The tenure track assistant professor will have access to already collected unique pre- and post-diagnostic data on patients with IBD, metabolomics analyses, will supervise collection of new data, and will interact closely with the Center’s interdisciplinary group of excellent scientists. The successful candidate will also have administrative tasks related to the everyday running of the center, as part of the team of group leaders referring to the center director.
The tenure track assistant professor will be responsible for study planning, data handling and analysis, writing of scientific papers, dissemination of own research, supervision of master students, PhD students, and postdocs, and application for funding of further research ideas.

Appointment as tenure track assistant professor presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD level or similar scientific qualifications and significant experience as a postdoctoral fellow. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment.
Assessment regarding change of position to associate professor
The assessment regarding the change of position to a permanent position as associate professor usually takes place within the last six months of tenure track employment. However, the employee can request for a previous assessment within the first 4 years. If the employee is assessed not to be qualified in the assessment, the person in question can apply for another assessment within the last six months of employment. Assessment can only take place a maximum of two times.
The assessment with the purpose of the change of position to associate professor will, as a minimum, emphasize the following qualifications in relation to the tenure track position's scientific area:
If the employee request that his/hers professional qualifications be assessed within the last year of the employment as tenure track assistant professor, or if the employee is assessed as not qualified for a permanent position as associate professor, the university must immediately initiate a dismissal in accordance with the collective agreement rules.

Assessment
Applicants will be assessed by an assessment committee.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that subsequent to the deadline for applications, the head of department supported by the chair of the assessment committee will select candidates for assessment. All applicants will be informed whether they will be assessed or not.
All assessed applicants will get the opportunity to comment on their own assessment and may be invited to an interview and/or asked to give a trial lecture.
When the employment process has been terminated, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
